Folkestone harbour and seafront is mainly consistent of little sand, sea and pebbles, but with some man made help it also has walkways to access onto them. Some parts of the seafront can be dangerous due to landslides and drops that are not accessible but they are clearly marked.

The harbour was mainly used as an import and export site before recently as well as Folkestone cross channel ferry terminal, it was deemed in 2004 structurally unsafe and economically unfit to serve. Now not in service public access to the arm of the harbour is allowed on good weather days permitting.

In the walks along the cliffs from Folkestone to dover there are many sights to capture as well as its climbs and naturistic landscape which are also labelled and also signs for dangers to avoid. some are buggy/wheelchair friendly, some are not. To the top in Capel le ferne (a little village next to Folkestone) on the walk is a cafe 'cliff top cafe' that you can have a break and revitalise as you take in the scene of the channel, with France in the distance and the harbour to the right of you.
